Advanced Urology & Minimally Invasive Procedures

At Longevity Medical Institute, our program addresses prostate and urinary conditions, incontinence and pelvic floor disorders, kidney and bladder conditions, kidney stones, male reproductive health, and other urologic concerns affecting both women and men.

Our surgical capabilities include transperineal prostate biopsy, HoLEP for enlarged prostate, ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy, PCNL for complex kidney stones, laparoscopic kidney procedures, urinary incontinence and pelvic floor procedures, and other minimally invasive urologic interventions.

Supported by our in-house laboratory, advanced imaging, and surgical center, patients can move from identifying a concern to specialist evaluation and treatment within one coordinated medical environment.

Advanced Urology & Men’s Health Procedures

Prostate Health: A Major Focus at Longevity Medical Institute

Prostate concerns are among the most common findings we evaluate in men through MRI screening, ultrasound, contrast prostate imaging, PSA testing, and free PSA testing. These tools may reveal early signs of prostate enlargement, inflammation, or findings that require further evaluation.

This is especially important because prostate conditions become increasingly common with age. Benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH, affects approximately half of men between ages 51 and 60 and up to 90% of men over age 80. Prostate cancer is also one of the most common cancers in men, affecting approximately 1 in 8 men during their lifetime.

At LMI, we take a proactive and diagnostic-driven approach to prostate health. When MRI findings, PSA levels, or free PSA ratios suggest concern, our team can coordinate the next step, from monitoring and medical management to advanced diagnostic evaluation and minimally invasive treatment.

Transperineal Prostate Biopsy

A modern biopsy approach used to evaluate elevated PSA, abnormal free PSA, suspicious MRI findings, or other prostate concerns. Unlike older transrectal biopsies, the transperineal approach does not pass through the rectum, helping reduce infection risk while allowing accurate prostate tissue sampling.

Performed in our state-of-the-art surgical center using a modern, low-infection-risk approach designed for accuracy and patient comfort.

Benefits include lower infection risk, improved diagnostic precision, better access to key prostate regions, and outpatient treatment in many cases.

HoLEP Laser Therapy for Enlarged Prostate

HoLEP is an advanced minimally invasive laser treatment for enlarged prostate, also known as BPH. It removes obstructive prostate tissue without external incisions, helping improve weak stream, frequent urination, nighttime urination, incomplete bladder emptying, and urinary retention.

Benefits include reduced bleeding, faster recovery, strong long-term outcomes, and effective treatment for larger prostates.

Laparoscopic Prostate Cancer Surgery

For select patients with localized prostate cancer, minimally invasive laparoscopic prostatectomy may provide effective treatment with less blood loss, discomfort, and recovery time compared to traditional surgery.

When clinically appropriate, surgical planning also considers preservation of urinary and sexual function.

Kidney Stone Treatment with Laser Lithotripsy

Laser lithotripsy treats kidney or ureteral stones by using a small camera and laser fiber passed through the urinary tract to break stones into tiny fragments without external incisions.

Benefits include minimally invasive treatment, faster recovery, reduced discomfort, and high stone clearance rates.

Percutaneous Kidney Stone Removal (PCNL)

PCNL is used for larger, recurrent, or complex kidney stones. The procedure removes stones directly through a small incision in the back and may be recommended when laser lithotripsy alone is not enough.

Laser Circumcision

Laser circumcision removes the foreskin using advanced laser technology. It may be recommended for phimosis, recurrent irritation, infections, hygiene concerns, or discomfort during intimacy, with reduced bleeding and faster healing compared to traditional methods.

Varicocele Repair

Varicocelectomy treats enlarged veins in the scrotum that may contribute to infertility, low testosterone, or chronic discomfort. Repairing abnormal vein circulation may support reproductive health, hormonal balance, and comfort.

Hydrocele Repair

Hydrocelectomy treats fluid buildup around the testicle that can cause swelling, heaviness, or discomfort. The procedure removes or repairs the fluid-filled sac to restore comfort and normal appearance.

Laparoscopic Kidney Cyst Removal

This minimally invasive procedure treats symptomatic kidney cysts that may cause pain, pressure, or reduced kidney function. Small incisions are used to drain or remove problematic cysts with less downtime.

Physician Oversight

Advanced urologic procedures at Longevity Medical Institute are performed under the direction of Dr. Iván Ibarra, MD, specialist in urology and minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Our model emphasizes physician-led care, advanced diagnostics, individualized treatment planning, and coordinated follow-up from evaluation through recovery. By integrating MRI imaging, laboratory testing, minimally invasive techniques, and surgical expertise within one medical environment, we are able to provide patients with a comprehensive and modern approach to urologic care.

Dr. Iván Ibarra, MD
Chief of Preventive Urology & Urologic Surgery

Dr. Diego Ibarra Pérez is a board-certified urologist specializing in preventive urology, prostate health, urinary and bladder disorders, kidney conditions, pelvic floor dysfunction, sexual and reproductive health, and minimally invasive urologic surgery for both women and men. His approach emphasizes early detection, accurate diagnosis, and modern treatment of urologic conditions before they significantly affect health or quality of life.

Dr. Ibarra earned his medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) and completed advanced specialty training in Urology at Centro Médico Nacional del Noreste (CMNNE/UMAE Hospital de Especialidades No. 25) through the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) in Monterrey. He is certified by the Consejo Nacional Mexicano de Urología and has served in leading hospitals throughout Baja California Sur.

For men, his expertise includes prostate health and advanced diagnostics, enlarged prostate and urinary obstruction, male fertility, sexual health, and minimally invasive procedures including transperineal prostate biopsy and HoLEP.

His practice also includes comprehensive urologic care for women, including urinary urgency and incontinence, bladder disorders, pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, recurrent urinary symptoms, kidney stones, and other urinary tract conditions.

For both women and men, Dr. Ibarra treats kidney, ureter, and bladder conditions using advanced endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques, including laser lithotripsy, PCNL, and laparoscopic urologic surgery.

At Longevity Medical Institute, Dr. Ibarra works alongside our laboratory, imaging, and clinical teams, allowing patients to move efficiently from diagnostic findings to specialist evaluation and, when necessary, treatment within one coordinated medical environment.
